Description
This is a listing for a Vintage article with pictures on the CUNARD WHITE STAR LINE RMS QUEEN ELIZABETH. The Queen Elizabeth along with her sister ship the Queen Mary were known for their transatlantic crossings. This article chronicles the turn around time needed to prepare the liner for sailing (after a delay). It is a great behind the scenes look. She was in service from 1938 until 1968 when she was sold and replace by the QEII. She was sold to the Queen Corporation and rename to ELIZABETH 1968-1970. Then Sold to Orient Overseas Lines and renamed SEAWISE UNIVERSITY to be used as a floating university from 1970 - 1972. Sadly, while undergoing refurbishment, a fire broke out and the water used to put it out caused her to capsize in Hong Kong. I am not sure from which magazine or what the date is for this article. I believe this to be from a Life or Look magazine, from the size. This measures about 14" x 11". Please look at the pictures for the best view of the item as they are part of the description. Please ask any questions before bidding. This is in nice vintage condition. We are always happy to combine shipping whenever possible.
