    Description

    Rare fractional currency specimen notes are always a favorite with our customers.  Only a minuscule number exist compared to the regular issues. We're pleased to offer this 5 Cent Third issue Green Reverse fractional currency note. The center of the note clearly displays the block letters from the “CSA”watermark. The paper most likely came from the Confederate blockade runner "Bermuda" which was captured by Union forces April 27, 1862. The banknote paper on board was bound from London for the Confederate States of America. The US Federal courts subsequently ordered the paper to be taken to the US Treasury where it was used for a number of purposes including the printing of fractional currency Specimen Notes of the second and third issues.
