killer 1890s opium den dragon painted by horichiyo.  sick af.
horichyo tattooed in yokohama, japan in the late 1800s.  his fame spread (and he advertised very efficiently and intelligently) through "the gilded mansions and exclusive clubs of the western world" until he was tattooing royalty around the globe.  an 1897 publication stated that he was the "Shakespeare of tattooing" as "his lines are distinct as if they were made with the finest delicate brushes". even though the rest of the tattoo world at the time was moving to the electric machine he remained true to the hand tabori technique.

11x14 professional copy archival print, excellent quality from a hi res scan directly (and tone print matched) vintage 8x10 photo but unknown details.
