This listing is for an original jewelry bead from a necklace owned and worn by Janis Joplin complete with a photocopy of the Certificate of Authenticity from Dorothy Joplin, her mother and notarized on May 10, 1997, a year before Dorothy Joplin passed away.
A little history about this piece: As you will read in the notarized copy, a box of Janis Joplin Jewelry containing over 4 pound of jewelry, listed as Item #261 Plastic Box of Misc. Jewelry, from "The Janis Joplin Family Collection," was initially sold to "Pop Culture Fragments," who guarantees the authenticity of each fragment of jewelry owned by Janis Joplin. The original box of jewelry that was purchased from the estate of Dorothy Joplin in 1977 was limited to 500 fragments. Some of these were complete pieces of jewelry such as necklaces, etc. and others were fragments of her jewelry.
We have a few of these teal beads beeds fragments for sale and buyer will receive 1 of these 500 pieces. While we are showing number 312/500, once this particular one is sold, next buyers will receive a different numbered piece. It will be 1 of the 500 pieces and a teal bead beed. Fantastic piece for the serious Janis Joplin collector. Don't miss it!
