Cunard Queen Elizabeth Luncheon Menu - April 26, 1953

The Queen Elizabeth Luxury Ocean Liner.  Few ocean liners delivered quite the class and sophistication of Cunard's Monarch Namesake, providing a level of luxury and pampering to transatlantic voyagers that other services just couldn't match.
With her keel laid in 1938, the QE sailed between America and Europe countless times, with a brief detour as a troup carrier in WWII, before being retired in 1967.  A long and distinguished career, indeed, just like the Queen herself.
Intended to serve on as a floating University, the venerable ship was purchased by a business tycoon in Hong Koa only to catch fire in Hong Kong Harbor (under suspicious circumstances, mind you), sink, and then get scrapped after she was deemed unfit to refit.  A sad ending, for sure, but nothing can take away from the decades of service she provided and the thousands upon thousands of happy memories provided to those who sailed on her.
One such memory comes from April 26, 1953 where passengers were presented with this gorgeous menu adorned with a picture most likely of the Italian seaside, and were offered a variety of culinary extravagances: Crab Flake salad.  Chicken A la King.  Roast Lamb. And some rather odd selections too: Sheep's Head broth.  Calf's liver with Fines Herbes.
This is a great piece of memorabilia for the Cunard, Cruise Ship or Anglophile collector.  Given its age and copyable nature, this is a final sale with no returns so please inspect the pictures and feel free to ask questions.
