2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the original Australian Kookaburra coin design which was first released in 1990.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 5oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, this anniversary coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 500 of the 25th Anniversary of the Australian Kookaburra 2015 5oz Silver Proof High Relief Coins in this packaging out of a maximum mintage of 1,000.
DESIGN
The reverse of the coin depicts an adult kookaburra sitting on a tree stump surrounded by eucalyptus leaves and a fern. The design includes the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint’s special ‘P25’ mintmark, and the year-dates 1990 – 2015.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2015 year-date are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
