    Description

    This is for a 1875 NATIONAL CURRENCY PROOF used to detect counterfeit currency from Laban Heath.  As a proof, it is an example of the style, vignettes, lettering, borders, etc of what an actual piece of National Currency should look like.  This one depicts the First National Bank of Philadelphia.
    Tremendous art work for the day.  Vignettes include:
    Ben Franklin flying a kite discovering electricity;
    Liberty soaring on an eagle as a bare breasted maiden which was incredibly risque for the time period;
    On the reverse - De Soto discovering the Mississippi with Indians, a cannon regiment and Christ on the cross.
    Great condition with no folds or bends.  Heavy card stock with plate impression.  About 9.5 x 7.5in.
    Will combine shipping.
